The Nashville natives couldn't believe their eyes. It was lunchtime, in the middle of the week, and there they were - hundreds upon hundreds of Dodge Vipers snaking their way through the downtown streets of the Music City. And this was just the beginning.
For five days, Sept. 26-30, more than 800 Dodge Vipers descended on Nashville for the seventh Viper Owners Invitational. Along with the parade through the downtown district, the 1500 Viper owners and guests would also participate in a leisurely road rally along the scenic Natchez Trace and some high-speed spins around the Nashville Superspeedway.
And, each night, the Viper owners and guests dined at the fabulous Opryland Hotel. Except, of course, for Friday evening when they took over the famous Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville for an evening of gourmet dining and country dancing.
In addition to all these attractions, the highlight for many attendees was their first opportunity to get behind the wheel of the new 2003 Dodge Viper SRT-10. A quantum leap forward in performance car technology, the Viper SRT-10 brought back the same excitement that many owners experienced the first time they ever drove a Viper.
