Patience and perseverance paid off for NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series racer Ted Musgrave as he captured his first NCTS title. The Championship is also a first for Mopar. Combined with Bobby Hamilton's 2004 series title, the win marks back-to-back series victories for Dodge.
Musgrave took a 58 point lead over Dennis Setzer, then set his sights on the championship and Setzer. Finishing nineteenth in the season ending race, he steered his Ultra Motorsports Mopar Dodge Ram through two crashes in the final laps.
"I had to put a bubble around me and stay back and pick my way through them," Musgrave said. "They were racing for positions and I was racing for a championship."
In Musgrave's three year career, he has amassed 16 career wins and of the 17,460 racing miles, he has led for 3,250.7 laps and has never finished lower than third in the NTCS championships.
Mopar and Dodge picked up two of racing's premier series this year by adding the National Hot Rod Association's (NHRA) Funny Car titled won by Gary Scelzi.
