ARLINGTON, VA -The Audi A4 earned the rare title of "double best pick" amongst midsize sedans based on the results of two recent tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The A4 is only the second car to earn this designation. It did so by receiving a "best pick" designation in the recently conducted IIHS side impact crash test and the frontal offset crash test.
"The Institute's side impact test is severe, reflecting what happens when vehicles are hit in the side by a pickup or SUV," says Institute chief operating officer Adrian Lund. "These latest test results show that more and more manufacturers are improving their vehicles to better protect occupants in side impact crashes."
"Audi stands behind the sophisticated safety engineering of its cars" says Marc Trahan, Director of Product Quality at Audi of America, Inc. "In the real-world, the A4 has an excellent occupant protection record and has proven to provide superior occupant safety. We are happy to see the results from the IIHS tests."
The new Audi A4 sedan which was represented in these tests went on sale in the U.S. this past March.
